Birth, Christening and Engagement

Birth
A new baby is a gift,
Of the most important kind.
The purest form of happiness,
Ever possible to find.
Now you have a little daughter,
To make your family complete.
You are the proudest parents,
Anyone could hope to meet.
Your little girl’s called Rachel,
Such a beauty to behold.
She steals the heart of everyone,
Who gets to have a hold.
So please accept this gift,
To celebrate her birth.
May she bring you lots of joy,
And merriment and mirth.
Rachel’s totally unique,
There’ll never be another.
And I feel just so blessed,
That I am her Godmother.

Christening
When realising you were on the way,
It was a big surprise.
We’d sold your brother’s cot and pram,
This with hindsight was unwise.
A little baby on the way?
We’d love to have another.
On June 11th 2007,
Gareth gained a little brother.
You’re really such a happy boy,
With a smile for everyone.
With your Nan and Granddad,
You’re always full of fun.
You idolise your brother,
And fights are very rare.
But when it’s sausages for tea,
There’s no way that you’ll share!
But today the menu’s grander,
Smoked salmon tops the list.
Champagne cocktails in abundance,
And a cake too good to miss.
This special day we went to church,
The congregation listened.
As the vicar blessed Daniel Rees,
And our little boy was christened.

Engagement

Never before have a couple,
Been more perfectly matched.
Today we celebrate your engagement,
Soon you'll be formally attached!
Next summer we'll stand in the church,
And witness you making your vows.
A mixture of wondrous emotions,
That occasion will surely arouse.
We'll recall when Sarah was born,
How quickly the time has flown by.
When we watch her become Simon's bride,
It's a certainty that we'll both cry.
But our little girl is now all grown up,
And ready to live her own life.
She's found a real gem in her Simon,
And agreed that she will be his wife.
You were destined to be with each other,
Both special in so many ways.
May your future be happy and golden,
Full of exciting and wonderful days.
So congratulations, dear Simon and Sarah,
May engaged life be totally bliss.
And on days when you have the odd tiff,
Remember - make up with a kiss!
